In PSHE Joanne Goodfellow, who is a physiotherapist who works with people who have had strokes, kindly came in to talk to us about her career. She brought in some equipment she uses for us to try, these included crutches, stick, stethoscope and a blood pressure monitor. Thank you Joanne for coming in to talk to us and showing us some exercises.
In PSHE Susan Holliday came in to talk to us about her business, Studio 11 which is a hairdressers and beauty salon. We were all amazed that a pair of hairdressing scissors costs £200 and some people even put tomato ketchup in their hair. Thank you Susan for a very enjoyable and informative talk, the shampoo samples and sweets.
We have been enjoying the career talks in PSHE, Ian Hodgson came into to talk to us about his farming business. He has a very large farm, 700 dairy cows. He brought in some food products that milk goes into and we tasted some blueberry yoghurt drink. Thank you Ian for a very informative and enjoyable talk.
Year 5 visited Caldew School for a science day on Wednesday 26th June. They started off by testing their stopwatch and timing skills, then moved onto testing for glucose in the body, next was lunch with baguettes, a roast dinner, chicken burgers and cake on offer. In the afternoon they tested samples of urine for drugs and finally a look at reaction times and the human body. A very enjoyable science day!
