This half term our topic is 'We're going on a summer holiday'

We have been doing some work on Kenya today and learnt some Swahili. This is how you say, 'hello, good afternoon.'
We've been planting cabbages.
Today we began our new topic in science, 'Growing Things'. We had a discussion about what we could grow in our garden and then we tasted lots of different fruit and vegetables that can be grown in gardens.
We've had a busy afternoon making wind socks.
We spent the morning making magic potions! We had to measure out different volumes of liquids, mix them all together and watch the magic happen ✨

We all wore red for Red Nose Day today!
We were looking at traditional clothing from New Zealand today and we had a go at performing a haka!
We were learning about Indian dress in topic today. Raj, our visitor, brought in some beautiful dresses and told us all about traditional Indian clothes.
We all dressed up for World Book Day today!
Today in literacy we were reading the poem 'My Little Dinosaur'. After lots of practice we learnt the poem off by heart and we were able to recite it.
Today in topic we had a triceratops come and visit us! We looked at some of his features then did some research to find out more about him.

We have been making calendars in year 1. We used our handprints to make trees and then decorated them with different colours for the different seasons.
Today in RE we talked about harvest festival and then we made leaves,writing on them what we are thankful for.
Building Hadrian's wall - today in topic we looked at Hadrian's wall and tested different materials to make strong walls in teams.
The BFG has landed in our room!
In maths we have been counting to 100 to see what 100 looks like!
