Year 3&4

Welcome to year 3 and 4. Our class teacher is Miss Huck and we have Miss Hetherington, Mrs Graham and Mrs Brownrigg to help us all learn. 

In maths today we were challenged to create a new school design, which had to have parallel lines, 8 right angles, cubes, cuboids, a triangular prism and a cylinder in the build!

Today we had fun creating life size bodies, complete with organs and bones!

We designed and made Roman style sandals. First we researched sandals, then designed them, made them, tried them out and evaluated them.

YEAR 4 MULTIPLICATION CHECK

The times table check is a national assessment, which consists of 25 times tables completed via an online assessment. The children complete this test in the first two weeks back after half term.

Tuesday 20th June, today we have been recapping parts of a newspaper so we cut out different parts of the newspapers.

Sports fixtures. Year 3 and 4 have been out to tennis and the five a side football final this week. Well done to all who took part, some amazing skills and great teamwork gave us great results.

In French, our new topic until Christmas is Animals. Today we used the language angels website to play games to practise our new vocabulary, children are welcome to log on at home as well if they want to. The website is Home (languageangels.com), our username is burgh34 and the password is french. 

Monday 15th May 2023 - Today we learned about how food helps our bodies and we made our own intestines, it was a bit messy but fun!

Ordering - today in English we did dictionary work on some new vocabulary, but first we practised with some outdoor alphabetical ordering to warm us up!

Boys football competition

Year 3/4 girls took part in a 7 a side football competition at Harraby 3G.

World Book Day 2023- we enjoyed wearing pyjamas and having story and a snack in the library.

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a practical maths lesson all about fractions today,

11th January 2023 Today some of our year 3 and 4 children have been to a sportshall athletics competition, they did really well and we are very proud of them!

20th December 2022. We are feeling very festive today!

In November we talked about the monument to King Edward as part of our Britain from the air topic. We designed and made a model of a new monument.

This week we had a very special visitor. Poppy came from Tullie House to talk to us about World War 1 and to show us some artefacts from the war.

Our first topic this year is World Kitchen, we will be looking at foods from a variety of cultures and countries. In English we will start our term looking at recounts, focusing on parts of "The Hodgeheg" by Dick King-Smith, and looking at how recounts are used in newspapers. Our whole class reading will focus on "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl. 

In maths we are beginning with place value, number lines and reading and writing 3 and 4 digit numbers. 

In art we are focusing on Giuseppe Arcimboldo and his fruit based paintings before making our own!

We had a fantastic time visiting Timmy's restaurant and learnt lots about food.

Tuesday 13th September, 2022 - we really enjoyed our tasting session today, we tried foods from four different countries.

Thursday, 15th September 2022 - today we looked at ordering numbers and how a number line works. Our first job was to make a human number line!

Monday 26th September 2022 - In Science we have been thinking about classification and today we grouped vertebrates.

Top
