At Burgh by Sands School our history curriculum starts with our youngest children in our EYFS unit. in the younger years we intend to provide activities which focus on the children's understanding of time, events and people in their memory. We also look at memories from Parents and Grandparents. As the curriculum progresses into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 the children are encouraged to learn more about chronology and the order in which events happen. This progresses from ancient history through to modern day. We try to use of local history in particular with regard to Hadrian's wall as Burgh by Sands is an ancient Roman site.
