At Burgh by Sands School all children are encouraged to be designers and will work practically using their own creativity and imagination. This starts with our youngest children in EYFS. We link DT to other subject areas including maths and science and children are encouraged to be independent in their thinking. We give children real contexts for their designs e.g. building bridges linked to a wild water topic in Year 5&6 which helps them to consider their own and others needs. We also incorporate food technology into our curriculum so children will leave school with a knowledge of food and nutrition and with the ability to make different dishes.
